April 2023

COVID cases are declining, and many folks that are unvaccinated (and vaccinated!) have developed antibodies through exposure. This year, regardless of vaccination status, we are requiring any guests with symptoms of an illness (runny nose, sore throat, cough, etc) to take a rapid COVID test no more than 24 hours prior to boarding. Our COVID policy is subject to change based on CDC recommendations. If you must cancel your trip due to COVID-19 or another health emergency, a trip credit may be granted. As always, we recommend travel insurance.

Summer 2022

We had a very successful, healthy, and safe 2021 sailing season and are looking forward to another safe and healthy season in 2022! This year we are requiring that our guests be EITHER fully vaccinated against COVID with at least one booster OR take a COVID test before boarding. The results of rapid COVID tests are accepted and the test should be taken within 24 hours of boarding. Anyone who is symptomatic, even if vaccinated, will also need to take a rapid COVID test. All our crew is fully vaccinated. Please get in touch with us if you have any questions. Thank you!

Winter 2021-2022

We had a very successful, healthy, and safe 2021 sailing season! Many thanks to both our 2021 guests and crew who went the extra mile to follow our COVID protocols. Well over 90% of our guests were vaccinated against COVID and those who weren’t followed our COVID testing protocols. Looking ahead to the summer of 2022 we can not say yet what our COVID policies will be but we will continue to follow the CDC’s guidelines and keep you informed of our protocols. Feel free to call or email us with questions. Hope to see you next year!

Sept 2021

What a great sailing season we’ve had so far! As we enter our last month of sailing we wanted to update our COVID information.

We have enhanced our COVID testing protocol for any guests that aren’t fully vaccinated against COVID. Starting Sept 1, unvaccinated guests will need to take both a PCR COVID test a few days before boarding and then take a rapid test the day before sailing. Those who have received the full COVID vaccine do not need to take a test. Please contact us with any questions about this.

The use of face masks continues to be optional on board but guests should bring some face masks as some island communities are asking visitors to wear them.

Cancellation Policy for 2021: If you cancel more then 8 weeks before your sailing date a full refund (minus $30 fee) will be granted. If you need to cancel closer to the sail date because you have COVID, did not receive your test results or received a positive result (if applicable), are symptomatic or were a close contact with a COVID positive case, a trip credit will be granted if we cannot resell your cabin. If we can resell your cabin a full refund (less $30) will be granted. We highly recommend trip insurance. Many travel insurance companies now offer COVID-related cancellation policies.

Thank you,
Garth and Jenny

June 2021

Hello!

We have had an amazing start to our 2021 sailing season! The wind has been favorable, the sunshine plenty, and life on board is almost back to normal.

At this time, the state of Maine has opened up travel and done away with COVID-related restrictions. On the French, we just have a few COVID guidelines to continue to keep our guests and crew safe during this pandemic.

Pre-Board Screening

At this time all guests will be required to provide proof of a completed COVID vaccination OR take a Covid-19 test and receive a negative result within 72 hours of boarding.

All of our crew have been fully vaccinated.

We will send you a “certificate of compliance” before sailing where you will attest to us that you’re fully vaccinated or will be taking a COVID test.

Masks

Per the latest regulations, because we have such a high vaccination rate on board, guests and crew will not be required to wear face masks! However some island communities are asking visitors to mask up, so please bring along a few face masks.

Sanitation

Cabins will be ventilated and cleaned between trips with special care to sanitize doorknobs, railings and sinks and all cabin linens will be laundered between trips with an ozone wash.

There will be hand sanitizer available throughout the boat.

Cancellation Policy for 2021

If you cancel more then 8 weeks before your sailing date a full refund (minus $30 fee) will be granted. If you need to cancel closer to the sail date because you have COVID, are symptomatic or were a close contact with a COVID positive case, a trip credit will be granted if we cannot resell your cabin. If we can resell your cabin a full refund (less $30) will be granted. We highly recommend trip insurance. Many travel insurance companies now offer COVID-related cancellation policies.

We want you to feel comfortable and safe with our procedures while aboard and we want to ensure all our guests can sail with peace of mind and enjoy the company of shipmates while aboard. Please feel free to call or email us with any questions!

We look forward to sharing the French’s 150th anniversary with you!

Thank you,
Garth and Jenny
